what if cas died in dean’s arms and he had scorched wing marks on his skin for the rest of his life
#you know what the worst part is #cas would probably be trying to push him away with the last strength he had#because he would see this coming #and couldn’t bear leaving such a painful scar on dean

You. Are. Evil. I cried the entire time I wrote this. So it’s not very good. ;^;
Title: Britts
Brittany, known affectionately by her father as Britts, was four and a quarter years old.
Her favorite color was blue.
Her favorite Disney princess was Rapunzel.
She liked her hair pulled back in a pony-tail best.
And her favorite superhero was Daddy. She was going to be just like him when she grew up, which she informed everyone she met.
Mommy, who had the prettiest red hair ever and sometimes let her put on her perfume and dress up which was the best, would smile and pick her up. She would tell little Brittany that was a good dream. Brittany would smile and reach for Daddy, who would scoop her up and spin her around and tell her that she would be the most amazing Hawkeye ever and she was going to be so brave and strong.
Her absolute most favorite thing in the world was being taken out for ice cream with Daddy, who spoiled her rotten.
That was before the day Uncle Agent Phil came home instead of Daddy.
And then she went home with Uncle Steve, and Uncle Agent Phil stayed home with Mommy.
Uncle Steve explained that Daddy had been badly hurt and wasn’t coming home. Ever.
No, there wouldn’t be any more ice cream.
No, Daddy was dead. Which means he couldn’t talk to her or play with her or anything. She already knew that. She was four and a quarter. She knew what being dead meant. It was like the bad guys one the tv, and Daddy wasn’t a bad guy.
Uncle Steve told her that he would be taking care of her for a little while because Mommy was going to be really sad, and it was okay if she was sad too.
Britts wanted her Daddy. She wanted bedtime stories from him and spins and making faces at Uncle Agent Phil and going to the park and the zoo and she wanted ice cream!
She crossed her arms and refused to talk to stupid Uncle Steve.
When that didn’t work, she kicked a seat on the subway.
And then she kicked stupid Uncle Steve’s door.
She wanted Daddy!
She cried a lot that night while Uncle Steve held her and rocked her.
The closed-casket funeral was held a few days later.
Mommy didn’t go, and she went with Uncle Steve in a little black dress that they had picked out at the store.
She absolutely did not cry. Not even once. She was going to be brave like Mommy and Daddy. Mommy and Daddy never cried, even when they were very sad.
Everyone told her she was being a good little trooper and that they were sorry that Daddy was gone.
She didn’t care if they were sorry.
She wanted Daddy.
She did not cry.
Eventually, Mommy came and got her from Uncle Steve.
Mommy made her food and tucked her in and told stories about superheroes and princesses but never about Daddy.
Mommy never talked about Daddy.
And all of their pictures were gone! Even the one with Daddy and her on the beach holding up the crabs they had caught!
The pictures of her and Mommy were still up though.
Eventually, she stopped asking Mommy to tell her stories about Daddy.
She soon turned 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Mommy became Mom.
9 and 10
Uncle Tony threw her a huge 10th birthday party. All of her friends from school got to come and they all got gift bags with Avengers party stuff in them even though she hated the Avengers.
11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16
She had grown up a lot. She was going to be a doctor. Or a social worker. Probably a doctor.
She got her Daddy’s bow for her 16th birthday, a gift from Uncle Agent Phil – now just Uncle Phil – because Mom couldn’t even look at it, let alone give it to her.
17, and 18
She visited her Daddy’s grave for the first time after she graduated from High School. She hoped that he would have been proud.
19, 20, and 21
She dropped out of college. She wasn’t cut out to be a doctor.
22, 23, 24, and 25
Mom got buried right next to Daddy. Closed-casket.
Found all the old pictures going through her stuff.
26
Joined the Avengers. Hawkeye #3.
Daddy would be proud of her. She hoped.
